Bathroom Remodeling

Bathroom remodeling is a wonderful way to add value to your home and pleasure to your hectic life.
In most recent times, homeowners are investing a lot of money into searching for ways to improve their bathrooms and create a more comfortable, functional feel. After all, the craziness surrounding our every day lives makes the time in the bathroom some of your only personal time. It seems reasonable to want your bathroom to be soothing, rejuvenating, and practical.

If you do plan to design your bathroom yourself, make sure to think about the amount of time you spend in your bathroom each day and use this as a way to rate what needs to be upgraded the most. Keep in mind that an estimated 80-85% of what you put into your bathroom remodeling, you get back when you sell.

When choosing bathroom flooring, you have the same considerations as you do for flooring for other rooms in your house. Is it durable? Will it stand up to the kids? Does it look nice or tacky? How does it feel under bare feet. But the main consideration for bathroom flooring is, of course, moisture. Moisture is the culprit in bathrooms, so you can't just choose any kind of flooring. Carefully weigh all of your bathroom flooring options. A perennial favorite is ceramic tile, but laminate flooring and engineered flooring also do the trick.

The top flooring choices for bathroom remodeling:

1. Ceramic Tile: Has a rich, textured, solid feeling, that is also waterproof and fairly inexpensive. It cleans up well and bravely resists even standing pools of water. Downsides: like stone, it's cold (though radiant or heated tile is available). Also, it can be slippery. But texturing solves that problem. Smaller tiles are less slippery, because more grout is used and the grout acts as a non-skid surface.
2. Stone: No moisture problems with marble, granite, limestone, and the other stone flooring options. Having the stone textured by sandblasting or buy purchasing naturally textured stone, such as slate can also provide a non-slip surface.
3. Engineered Wood: A plywood base that holds up well against moisture. And it looks terrific because the top layer is real wood. If you want the wood flooring look in a bathroom, engineered wood is the best choice.

Also, consider extending your newly tiled floors halfway up your walls, or to complete the inside of your shower or bath area. If you are choosing wood for your floors, consider matching that look on your ceiling for a cozy, spa-like effect.
